ACCOUNTABILITIES
General information The Java Developer will involve a range of tasks, including the design and development of new products, the implementation of SDKs on new platforms and the maintenance of existing code in order to support other systems such as Linux and Android. Key responsibilities A. Java development - Develop a Java Version of existing components - Design, development and support of future tools - Act as a back-up for the maintenance of existing applications - Develop and implement technical specifications. - Write end-user documentation to accompany the products - Maintain and document software versions using the version control systems - Design and implement bespoke software applications to meet special customer requirements. - Cooperate and assist with the QA and test teams to ensure faults and other problems are identified and rectified quickly. - Provide technical advice to other members of the GSDT and customers as the need arises. Job requirements Skills and experience 1. Object-oriented programming experience programming including a good working knowledge of Java 6 is essential. 2. Practical experience developing for more than one of the following platforms would be an advantage Windows, Android, Linux 3. Experience with the following tools office software, standard libraries and frameworks, interactive development environments, software version control, build systems, automated testing frameworks and bug tracking systems. 4. Familiarity with the following frameworks Visual Studio, Eclipse, SVN/Tortoise. 5. Commercial experience with the software development lifecycle including requirements definition, specification capture, software architecture/design, program development, associated documentation, test automation and maintenance. 6. Must have good oral and written communication skills and be able to work independently or in a team as required. 7. Fluent in English language (written and spoken) B. Education - Bachelor degree in IT or numerate discipline
